Carbon60 acquires Vancouver cloud consultancy OpsGuru
Carbon60, a Toronto-headquartered cloud managed services provider, has acquired OpsGuru, a Vancouver-based multi-cloud and DevOps consulting firm.
Founded in 2018, OpsGuru helps clients adopt cloud technologies, upgrade to cloud-native workflows, and secure and optimize their systems. The firm is a Kubernetes specialist and an AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud partner. OpsGuru was earlier this year recognized as a 2021 AWS Consulting Partner of the Year in Canada.
The firm has more than 50 employees across offices in Vancouver, Romania, and Israel, according to LinkedIn.
Carbon60’s acquisition of OpsGuru will strengthen the firm’s cloud consulting practice, which provides mid-market and enterprise companies with services in cloud assessment, migration, and compliance and security.
Carbon60 was founded in 1999 as an infrastructure and security consultancy before evolving into a managed hosting service provider. The firm has core capabilities in managed hosting and managed private cloud, alongside expertise in managed AWS and Azure public cloud platforms.
“The acquisition of OpsGuru dramatically accelerates Carbon60's realization of our vision to become the leading end-to-end multi-cloud service provider, helping Canadian companies plan, migrate, and operate successfully in the cloud," said John Witte, president & CEO of Carbon60. "Combined, Carbon60 and OpsGuru can fully support clients across Canada in their cloud evolution."
The combined company will have 160 cloud consultants, software developers, system administrators, and security professionals. Carbon60 has offices in Toronto, Vancouver, and Saint John.
"We're excited to join the Carbon60 family and provide our combined customers with a true end-to-end multi-cloud offering," said Anton Mishel, CEO of OpsGuru.
The OpsGuru deal is Carbon60’s third acquisition since 2019, when it became a portfolio company of M/C Partners, a Boston-based private equity firm focusing on emerging companies in communications and technology services.
OpsGuru was advised on the transaction by Drake Star Partners, a global investment banking firm. The advisory team was led by Jeff Baker, Drake Star's managing partner.
“This is our 10th cloud services transaction since the start of the pandemic alone and we expect the high rate of investment in this space to continue,” Baker said.
