EY Canada invests in quantum computing
EY Canada has invested in a quantum computer to help test and develop solutions while meeting compliance for highly regulated industries.
EY’s new quantum computer will enable the testing and refinement of quantum-enabled solutions in areas such as financial optimization, advanced fraud detection, data protection, and large-scale system planning. The local, on-site nature of the computer will allow for processing sensitive workloads within Canadian borders to meet compliance requirements for clients in government, financial services, energy, and logistics.
“We’re shifting the conversation on quantum computing from concept to practical use for our clients in Canada and globally,” said Biren Agnihotri, chief technology officer, EY Canada. “By combining local and global talent, ecosystem collaboration, and leading-edge in-house quantum infrastructure, we’re accelerating how organizations translate quantum innovation into real-world capability.”
Through its “Client Zero” approach, the Big Four accountancy will develop and test quantum solutions in its own environment before applying them to client challenges.
The investment builds on a recent quantum-related patent for decision intelligence.
“Strengthening our foundational technologies in-house helps us unlock future breakthroughs that benefit both our people and our business,” said Alycia Calvert, EY Canada chair and CEO.
