BDO hires Sandra Pereira as tax principal in Toronto

BDO, a mid-market accounting and consulting firm, has hired Sandra Pereira as a principal in its transaction tax practice in Toronto.

Pereira brings more than 20 years of international tax experience in private and public markets – including private equity, real estate, infrastructure funds, fund sponsors, and portfolio firms. She focuses on cross-border structured transactions, buy-side and sell-side acquisitions, divestitures, and business integration mandates.

Pereira has extensive expertise in complex structuring issues, optimizing tax benefits from acquisitions, transforming the tax function, and operational tax advisory.

Her experience in both corporate and professional services roles reinforces BDO’s capacity to provide sophisticated advice and guidance to our clients," said Harry Chana, partner and head of the international and cross border tax services practice at BDO Canada.

Pereira previously spent 11 years with Tricon Residential, an owner and developer of residential rental properties in North America, where she was chief tax officer and global head of tax.

Before that, she spent 12 years with Deloitte, where she was a tax partner. Pereira also previously spent 17 years with GE Capital, where she was a director in the international tax practice.

She has a bachelor’s degree in finance from the University of Toronto.
