BDO acquires government grant consultancy GrantMatch
BDO, a mid-market accounting and consulting firm, has acquired GrantMatch, an Oakville, ON-based government grant advisory services firm.
Founded in 1994 as FairTax Recovery Consultants, GrantMatch works with more than 1,000 clients across Fortune 500s, SMEs, municipalities, and nonprofits.
The firm focuses on incentives for industrial firms in manufacturing, food and beverage processing, aerospace, forestry, and clean technology. GrantMatch also works with 130+ municipalities on securing funding for community infrastructure.
The BDO acquisition will add 35 GrantMatch team members to its credits and incentives (C&I) group.
The national accountancy will also add the proprietary GrantMatch software-as-a-service platform, which tracks more than 10,000 government programs and features an intelligent program matching algorithm.
“On behalf of BDO, I would like to extend a warm welcome to the GrantMatch team, its customers, and partners,” said Rachel Gervais, managing partner of tax at BDO. “This deal has enabled the firm to expand its Credits & Incentives capabilities, making it easier to help our clients access the funding they need so they can continue to grow their businesses without having to worry about the complex nature of government funding.”
BDO provides accounting, tax, and consulting services to mid-market clients across the country. The Toronto-headquartered firm has more than 5,000 people across 80+ offices nationwide.
“Joining BDO means that we can scale much faster, while remaining true to our original mission of solving global challenges by connecting organizations to government funding,” said Mike Janke, managing partner of GrantMatch, who joins BDO as a tax partner.
