BDO Canada adds tax partner Richard MacDonald
BDO Canada, a mid-market accounting and consulting firm, has hired Richard MacDonald as a tax partner based in Vancouver.
MacDonald brings more than 20 years of experience in tax planning for public and private corporations. He has particular expertise advising clients in mining and technology.
MacDonald joins BDO from Baker Tilly Canada, where he spent the last four years as a tax partner. His practice areas included tax compliance and tax provision preparation, M&A strategy, due diligence, and corporate and debt restructuring.
Before that, MacDonald spent seven years at Deloitte where he was a senior manager in the firm’s business tax practice. He specialized in working with mining clients with operations throughout Latin America and Africa, advising on financial reporting for tax and compliance filings. MacDonald also supported the audit practice with the audit of tax provisions of public companies.He began his career at EY, where he spent 12 years and was latterly a senior manager in the business tax practice. At EY, MacDonald worked with high-tech multinationals on tax areas including compliance, transfer pricing, and scientific research and experimental development credits.
MacDonald has an MBA and bachelor’s degree from the University of British Columbia, and is a CPA and CA.
