Mercer acquires compensation specialist Hexarem
Mercer, a New York-headquartered human resources and asset management consulting firm, has acquired Hexarem, a Montreal-based HR consultancy focusing on compensation and governance advisory.
Founded in 2013 by Patrick Gélinas, Hexarem has worked with more than 150 clients in Canada – including listed and private companies, crown corporations, and cooperatives. The firm has practices in compensation benchmarking, board compensation, ongoing board advisory, program design, equity strategy, and disclosure and communication.
Hexarem has a team of three partners and three analysts, according to its website.
“Hexarem’s highly respected team, extensive compensation expertise, and client-centric approach align with Mercer’s culture and capabilities,” Teresa Palandra, Mercer’s president in Canada, said. “Together, we are well-positioned to support Canadian organizations in navigating complex compensation challenges within today’s demanding economic landscape, helping them retain and motivate their talent to drive sustained success.”
Mercer has approximately 25,000 professionals globally providing services in HR management, retirement benefits, employee benefits, and investments.
As part of a brand alignment by its parent company, Mercer will go to market as Marsh starting in 2027.
“This acquisition marks an exciting new chapter in our journey,” Gélinas said. “We look forward to joining Mercer to offer our clients an expanded suite of workforce consulting and benefits solutions and our colleagues an opportunity to grow and develop at a global firm.”
