BDO hires Giovanni Pizzoferrato as chief digital and technology officer

BDO has hired Giovanni Pizzoferrato as chief digital and technology officer (CDTO).

Based in Ottawa, Pizzoferrato will oversee the mid-market accountancy’s technology and digital strategy – including client digital experience and the firm-wide technology roadmap – as well as security and innovation enablement.

He brings 25+ years of experience in digital transformation, cloud modernization, AI enablement, and enterprise technology. Pizzoferrato most recently spent a year as CTO at Plusgrade, a provider of ancillary revenue solutions for the travel industry. Before that, he was CTO at supply chain software firm Kinaxis, head of cloud and big data technology at CPP Investment Board, and VP of big data technology at Canadian Tire.

Earlier in his career, Pizzoferrato spent 12 years with Telus, where he was a senior technology strategist in the chief technology office.

“We are delighted to welcome Giovanni to BDO’s Innovation & Change leadership team,” said Sonia Edmonds, managing partner, innovation and change. “His expertise will be a tremendous asset as we continue to drive transformation across the firm.”

Pizzoferrato joined BDO on August 11, 2025.

BDO is headquartered in Toronto and has approximately 5,000 employees across 100 offices nationwide.

BDO earlier this summer welcomed Ram Rathod as a partner in its transaction tax practice and Christiane Eid as a partner in its US corporate tax group.
