WSP to add ex-McKinsey Canada head to board of directors

WSP, a Montreal-headquartered design and engineering consulting firm, has appointed former McKinsey senior partner Eric Lamarre as a board director and member of the audit committee, effective May 8.
The firm said the appointment is part of its global strategic action plan, which is dedicated to “modernizing its industry with digital and advanced technologies.”
Lamarre retired from strategy consultancy McKinsey & Company in 2024 after three decades with the firm. He served as North American leader for McKinsey Digital, managing partner for Canada, and global co-leader of the risk management practice. Lamarre was also chair of the firm’s acquisition committee and a member of its shareholder council.
Lamarre currently serves as a special advisor to McKinsey and as a board director at software firm Coveo Solutions.
He holds a PhD in engineering from MIT, an MBA from Collège des ingénieurs in Paris, and an engineering degree from McGill University.
“We look forward to welcoming Eric Lamarre to our Board of Directors and gaining his perspectives as we continue to guide WSP’s growth journey,” said Christopher Cole, WSP’s chairman of the board. “At the onset of a new strategic cycle that includes a keen digital focus, his leadership and expertise in technology, strategic oversight, and risk management will bring significant value to complement our Board’s depth of knowledge and experience."
WSP has more than 73,000 global professionals and is publicly listed on the TSX. The firm provides engineering, science, and advisory services for projects in transportation, infrastructure, environment, buildings, energy, water, and mining and metals.
