WSP acquires US-based Earth Consulting Group
WSP, a Montreal-based global engineering and design consultancy, has acquired Earth Consulting Group, an Atlanta-based environmental and engineering consulting firm.
Earth Consulting Group (EarthCon) provides services in remediation, due diligence, risk assessments, compliance and permitting, and groundwater analytics. The firm’s proprietary Groundwater Plume Analytics tool processes complex data sets into easy-to-understand graphics that help clients better understand groundwater plume behaviour.
The civil and environmental engineering firm has approximately 90 scientists, engineers, data management specialists, and field technicians across offices in Atlanta, GA; Memphis, TN; Jackson, MS; Anaheim, CA; and Houston and Corpus Christi, TX.
The EarthCon acquisition will give WSP highly specialized technical expertise in remediation, as well as strengthen its capabilities in environmental consulting, compliance, due diligence, and data management. The transaction will also expand WSP's presence in the US Southeast.
“By drawing on EarthCon’s expertise and local presence, this acquisition will expand our service offering and value for our clients in the United States, while also highlighting our commitment to sustainability, ESG matters, and to our fast-growing Earth & Environment Sector,” said Alexandre L’Heureux, WSP’s president and CEO.
The move follows on WSP’s massive acquisition of Golder, a Mississauga, ON-based environmental consultancy. The deal added 7,000 global professionals and greatly strengthened WSP’s environmental services business.
The Montreal-headquartered firm has also made two other acquisitions in the US this year: tk1sc, a California-based building engineering firm, and kW Mission Critical Engineering, a Troy, NY-based data center specialist.
