Open Farm co-founders named Canada’s EY Entrepreneur of the Year

Isaac Langleben and Jacqueline Prehogan, co-founders of ethical pet food company Open Farm, have been named Canada’s EY Entrepreneur of the Year 2025.

Langleben and Prehogan founded the Toronto-based company in 2014 with a focus on premium nutrition, animal welfare, and sustainability. The firm is committed to supply chain transparency, providing the geographic origin of every ingredient, safety test results for each product, third-party certification details, and carbon emissions for each product.

Open Farm is Canada’s first “Certified Humane” pet food, selling an array of food products for dogs and cats – including dry, wet, freeze-dried, bone broth, and treats.

The Open Farm founders received the EY national award at an event in Toronto on Wednesday. They will now go on as the Canadian entry for the EY World Entrepreneur of the Year awards in Monaco in May 2026.

The EY Entrepreneur of the Year awards recognize entrepreneurs who “master the artful balance of passion, determination, character, and skill to create businesses that address the most complex challenges and build a better working world,” the consulting firm said in a press release.

The Canadian award winners were determined by an independent judging panel of leaders from the private and public sector. The program’s national sponsors include Air Canada, TSX, The Globe and Mail, and The Printing House.
