CIMA+ launches sustainability consulting practice

CIMA+, a Laval, QC-headquartered engineering consulting firm, has officially launched its new consulting and strategic advisory services practice for sustainability and decarbonization.

The firm will support public and private sector clients throughout the project lifecycle on improving sustainability and climate change resilience.

The practice will provide expertise in three areas:

  • Climate change mitigation and adaptation (decarbonization, adaptation, construction projects, change management, stakeholder relations, and training)
  • Protection and enhancement of water resources (infrastructure resilience, regulatory assessment, legal expertise, data collection and analysis, support, awareness, and change management)
  • Transportation decarbonization (location of public charging stations, fleet electrification roadmap, EV charging policy, charging station data analysis, cost-benefit analysis, change management, and training)

The new division will be led by Anaïssia Franca, a Montreal-based director who joined CIMA+’s transportation electrification practice in 2023. She was previously a director in WSP’s centre of excellence in sustainable mobility.

“Every organization has climate ambitions and needs to plan for the future. Our mission is to translate these into pragmatic, ambitious action plans that are tailored to their reality,” Franca said.

CIMA+ was founded in 1990 and has 3,500 people across 40+ offices in Canada. The firm provides consulting engineering services in energy and resources, infrastructure, transportation, buildings, project management, operational and digital technologies, and earth and environment.

“This new service is part of our vision for growth and allows us to continually push the boundaries of consulting engineering to offer our clients comprehensive and personalized support. By strengthening our capacity to respond strategically, we are cementing CIMA+’s position as a leader in sustainable innovation in Canada," said Steeve Fiset, chief strategy officer.

CIMA+ earlier this summer announced a strategic partnership with Keywest Projects Ltd., a Calgary-based energy sector engineering consulting firm.
