CIMA+, a national design and engineering consultancy, has acquired GTA Hydro, a Montreal-based consulting firm focusing on the hydroelectric energy production sector.

Founded in 2015, GTA Hydro provides engineering services to hydroelectricity and dam market clients, with expertise in the design, manufacture, procurement, and installation of turbine and alternator parts. The firm has five employees listed on LinkedIn.

“GTA Hydro and CIMA+ have successfully completed several projects together in the past and are currently collaborating on numerous large-scale projects, making this acquisition a natural strategic union. This strong relationship of trust and collaboration, along with our shared vision for the future, strengthens our ability to undertake ambitious and innovative projects," said Steeve Fiset, chief strategy officer at CIMA+.

Éric Auger, president of GTA Hydro, will join CIMA+ as a partner and executive director for hydropower and dams.

"With this acquisition, CIMA+ broadens its engineering services to provide comprehensive solutions in the hydroelectricity and dam market. This approach not only enriches our client offerings, but also solidifies our strategic position as industry experts," added Steeve L'Heureux, EVP for energy and resources at CIMA+.

The GTA Hydro deal builds on CIMA+’s 2023 acquisition of MidSea Engineering, a Vancouver-based dam and hydropower engineering consultancy.

Founded in 1990, CIMA+ has more than 3,200 people across 35+ offices in Canada.

The Laval, QC-based firm provides engineering, environmental and geotechnical, geomatics and surveying, and project management services for buildings, infrastructure, and transportation.
