EY acquires real estate consultancy Ignite Strategic
EY Canada has acquired Ignite Strategic, a Calgary-based real estate consulting firm.
Founded by David Ford and Jeremy Tomalin-Reeves in 2008, the boutique firm provides early-stage strategy and capital facilitation services for projects in residential, mixed-use, resort, and public sector.
On the strategy side, Ignite provides qualitative and quantitative research services, visioning workshops and brand development strategy, development and product positioning, and planning of development and sales and marketing programs.
On the capital side, the firm matches well-conceived real estate opportunities with their network of qualified capital resources.
“We’re excited to join forces with Ignite Strategic to further the breadth and depth of EY’s real estate transaction capabilities to help clients in Alberta and beyond successfully prepare for a data-driven future with state-of-the-art platforms at the centre,” said Zachary Pendley, real estate and hospitality transactions leader at EY Canada.

EY Canada has one of the country’s largest real estate practices, providing owners, developers, investors, lenders, and users with strategy, valuation, and transaction advisory services. The practice’s strategy offerings include development advisory, capital allocation and portfolio planning, operating model reviews, and investment attraction, among other areas.
“From the onset, we’ve prided ourselves on blending deep industry insights with innovative thinking, ensuring that every strategy we develop is uniquely crafted to meet our clients' specific needs,” Ford said. “Joining EY allows us to scale and gain access to additional valuation, infrastructure advisory and capital market channels, as well as assurance and tax expertise to deliver tailored solutions that enhance value and mitigate risks for clients' real estate investments.”
EY in 2022 acquired Afara, a Calgary-based management consulting firm focusing on sustainability engagements, and Gensquared Inc., a Toronto-based IT consulting firm focusing on data and analytics engagements.
