EY acquires data consultancy Gensquared

EY Canada has acquired Gensquared Inc., a Toronto-based IT consulting firm focusing on data and analytics engagements.

Founded in 2010, Gensquared’s team of more than 10 consultants provide data-focused services in strategy, delivery and implementation, upgrades, migrations, and managed services. The firm’s “business-centric” approach (as opposed to a tech-first approach) makes sure to understand a company’s needs, objectives, and capabilities prior to launching a project.

Gensquared uses a “data team-as-a-service” model to provide clients with an on-demand, agile, and flexible data team that creates data-driven cultures and drives better decision-making.

The consultancy’s recent work includes teaming with Hudson’s Bay Company to modernize a dated customer retail analytics platform. In eight months, Gensquared helped migrate the legacy platform to the cloud, resulting in a decrease in IT spend, reduced reporting time, and improvement In integration capabilities, according to the firm’s website.EY acquires data consultancy GensquaredGensquared has partnerships and competencies with leading data technology platform providers, including Microsoft and MicroStrategy.

EY’s acquisition of Gensquared will bolster the Big Four accountancy’s data, analytics, and AI practice with additional talent and resources.

The move arrives on the heels of EY’s acquisition of Blackdot, a global customer transformation consulting firm. As part of the deal, Blackdot’s Canadian operations joined EY Canada.
