Heidi Scorgie joins BDO Canada as assurance partner
Heidi Scorgie has joined BDO Canada as a partner in the accounting firm’s assurance practice in Vancouver.
Scorgie brings over 25 years of experience in audit and assurance to BDO, where she will focus on capital markets and public company services in the mining, tech, and consumer retail industries.
Scorgie has extensive expertise in the external audit of public companies and inspection of audit firms – including managing stakeholder engagement with audit committees, directors, and other regulators.
She joins BDO from the Canadian Public Accountability Board (CPAB), Canada’s independent regulator of public company auditors, where she spent four years as regional VP for Western Canada.
Before that, Scorgie spent 23 years within Deloitte’s audit business, latterly as a partner in the Vancouver office. She also previously worked in the Big Four firm’s Toronto, Anchorage, and Johannesburg offices.
Scorgie has bachelor of commerce and bachelor of accounting degrees from the University of the Witwatersrand in South Africa and a CPA designation.
"We are thrilled to welcome Heidi to the team,” said Mikaela Taylor, partner and West region leader for assurance at BDO Canada. “Heidi is a seasoned professional in the audit and assurance space, whose deep understanding of the relationship between capital markets and public companies will contribute significantly to the excellence of our client services."
BDO recently hired Michael Bains as a partner in its Vancouver office.
The firm also added David Iudiciani, Martha Breithaupt, and Keyur Bhojak as partners in its GTA offices.
