Founded in 2010, Palmer provides environmental assessments, permitting, and geohazard analysis to clients in mining, infrastructure, and land development. The firm has approximately 100 employees and offices in Vancouver and Oakville, ON.
SLR’s acquisition of Palmer will strengthen the firm’s teams in BC and Ontario. SLR has 3,000+ employees and over 100 offices globally, including 18 offices in Canada.
“Palmer are one of the leading ecological and environmental consultancies in Canada supporting the mining and built environment sectors to drive positive outcomes for their clients,” said Neil Penhall, CEO of SLR. “Their expertise will build upon SLR’s existing environmental capabilities and will result in one of the largest environmental teams in Canada to support our clients in Making Sustainability Happen.”
The transaction is expected to close by November 2023.The Palmer deal is SLR’s third acquisition this year. The UK consultancy earlier this year bought Carnstone, a UK-based ESG consultancy, and IBIS, a South African ESG advisor.
SLR last year received investment from Ares Capital Management.
“We are excited to be joining the SLR team,” said Rick Palmer, founder. “Together with SLR’s broad range of services, and geographical reach we can provide additional opportunities to our growing team and continue to support our clients across Canada.”
