MNP, a national mid-market accounting and consulting firm, has acquired SVS Group, an Edmonton-based accounting and consulting firm.

Founded in 1982, SVS’ team of chartered professional accountants provide services in accounting, tax, and business advisory. The firm’s advisory services include business planning, software selection and implementation, M&A, due diligence, and banking and finance.

MNP’s acquisition of SVS will expand the Calgary-based firm’s Edmonton market. SVS partners Greg Bendall, Paul Baron, Nancy Beauchemin, Rod Robertson, Brian Welch, and Johnathan Whitmore, alongside 40 staff, will join MNP. The SVS team will remain at their current office 17010 – 103 Ave and will work with MNP's existing teams in Edmonton.

Companies have been facing increasing pressure from inflation, capital market changes, shifting regulations, and degrading economic conditions. A recent Deloitte forecast predicts a mild recession in Canada this year, with a 0.5% decline in GDP growth.

“As a firm we have been talking about how we could provide additional service lines to best support the success of our clients in this unpredictable and complex environment,” said Greg Bendall, group managing partner of SVS. “MNP has terrific experience in all the areas we work in, and their team will complement and expand our current service offerings.”

MNP has more than 7,770 people in 125+ offices coast-to-coast providing accounting, tax, and consulting services to clients across industries.

“Like MNP, SVS Group helps clients of all shapes and sizes to achieve their goals. We’re excited to be joining forces at a time when we believe we can help businesses across the region to navigate in an uncertain environment,” said Dustin Sundby, MNP’s regional managing partner for Edmonton.

MNP earlier this year acquired boutique Quebec accountancies Sylvain Béland CPA and Josée Turpin CPA.
