MNP buys Montreal area-based Josée Turpin, CPA
National mid-market accountancy MNP has acquired Josée Turpin, CPA, a boutique accountancy based in Sainte-Thérèse on the North Shore of Montreal.
Founded 25 years ago by sole partner Josée Turpin, the firm provides a range of assurance and tax services to organizations in the Laurentians, Laval, and surrounding areas.
As part of the transaction, which is slated to close on February 1, 2022, Turpin and her team of nine professionals will join MNP.
"The North Shore of Montreal is a prosperous and diverse economy with many vibrant communities,” said Jean-Philippe Langevin, regional managing partner for the Montreal region. "Since opening our office in Laval, we have been able to work with a range of incredible businesses from the Laval and surrounding business communities. With this merger, we are looking forward to helping more organizations reach their full potential.”
The deal continues MNP’s significant expansion push in the Quebec market. The Calgary-headquartered firm in February 2021 added 500 Quebec employees in a deal for Deloitte Canada’s regional offices, and followed that up with the purchase of boutique firms Babin Consultants, Eric Duguay CPA, Duke CPA, Groupe Trigone, Jean-Luc Quenneville CPA (based in Laval), and Malenfant Dallaire. MNP entered the Quebec market in 2011.
The firm also recently opened its Laval office (just south of Sainte-Thérèse), which has already grown to more than 50 people. MNP has more than 140 partners and over 1,000 team members in Quebec and a total of 7,751 people nationwide.
"We were looking for an opportunity to add more resources to our team, as well as more ways to help our clients face both the challenges and opportunities of today's business environment," said Turpin. "MNP has terrific experience in all of the areas we work in, and their team's expertise will complement and enhance our current service offerings, while bringing greater bench strength to help us service our clients across the Laurentians and Laval regions."
