Aecom names Brian Moelich as Canada leader of Strategy+ practice
Design and engineering consultancy Aecom has named Brian Moelich as the leader of its Strategy+ practice in Canada. He is based in Toronto.
Aecom’s new Strategy+ practice is a design-led management consultancy situated at the intersection of business strategy, innovation, and design. The practice’s consultants use “creative design processes” to build solutions that improve performance and experiences, according to the firm’s website.
The practice is part of the LA-headquartered firm’s continuing shift away from fixed-price construction contracts to higher-margin professional services work. Aecom last year sold its civil construction and power construction businesses.
The firm has now tapped Brian Moelich to lead the Canadian portion of the strategy practice.
Moelich brings ten years of professional experience to the role, with a focus on business design and strategy. He has expertise developing and launching new products, services, and experiences through the lens of design thinking and data analysis & modeling.
Moelich spent the last four-and-a-half years running his boutique consultancy Arrisio. The firm advised clients such as Nestle, Manulife, and Canadian Tire on strategy, organizational structures, and products and services.
Before that, he spent two-and-a-half years at cloud computing giant Citrix, where he served as mentor and facilitator for the firm’s open innovation program in Silicon Valley. In the role, he worked with internal and external startups on exploring and developing new ideas – including advising an internal team on the design of Citrix’s first physical product.
Earlier in his career, Moelich was a project manager at real estate services firm CBRE, where he focused on the IBM client account. His projects included designing and implementing all security systems and programs relating to the construction and renovation of IBM’s buildings in Ontario.
Moelich holds an MBA in strategy and business design from the University of Toronto and a bachelor’s degree in finance from Brock University.
