CGI refreshes brand identity on 45th anniversary
CGI, a Montreal-headquartered IT consultancy, has refreshed its brand identity on the occasion of its 45th anniversary.
The company’s main logo remains the standard red, sans-serif “CGI.” However, the firm now has an alternate logo incorporating the new red-to-dark purple color gradient theme visible throughout the firm’s updated website. The red-to-dark purple color gradient is reminiscent of the current Instagram logo.
The slightly more colorful refresh steps away from the previous website’s emphasis on solid red to a focus on shades of purple.
CGI also launched a new tagline – “Insights you can act on” – which the firms says is a representation of its “deep knowledge of clients’ industries” and its ability to help clients achieve business outcomes.
The firm unveiled a minute-long brand video, featuring alternating clips of smiling and inspired technology consultants, their clients, and a range of forward-facing industries, including an automated manufacturing plant, wind turbines, a drone-assisted farm field, vaccine manufacturing, solar panels, and paying for something with a smartwatch. The video finishes with a zoomed out shot of a triumphant person standing atop a mountain peak, zooms out further to a satellite shot of Earth, and then ends with the old, red CGI logo on a white background.

Aside from coinciding with CGI entering its 45th year of operation, the brand refresh arrives at the launch of the firm’s 2021 “Voice of our Clients” initiative, an annual analysis of business and IT priorities and best practices. The annual report in the last five years has conducted more than 6,500 interviews with business and IT executives, and has collected more than 1 million data points from organizations with a combined 27 million employees.
This year’s edition will shed further light on the actions being taken to accelerate digital strategies amid the Covid-19 pandemic.
