Deloitte Canada names Sarah Qadeer as chief legal officer
Deloitte Canada has named Sarah Qadeer as chief legal officer (CLO), partner, and member of the executive team. She will be based in Toronto.
As CLO, Qadeer will oversee Deloitte Canada and Chile’s in-house legal and corporate governance teams. She will report to Anthony Viel, CEO of Deloitte Canada.
Qadeer brings more than 20 years of legal experience to the Big Four accounting and consulting firm. She spent the last 12 years as general counsel at The Home Depot Canada. Before that, she spent six-and-a-half years as VP and legal counsel at BMO Nesbitt Burns. She started her legal career at McCarthy Tetrault, where she was an associate in the corporate and securities law group.
Qadeer also spent the last two-and-a-half years as president of Legal Leaders for Diversity and Inclusion, a group of more than 100 general counsel in Canada who work to advance D&I in the business and legal profession, and the last eight years as vice chair of the board of directors for The Home Depot Canada Foundation.
She holds a BCL and LLB in law from McGill University and a BS in microbiology and immunology from McGill University.
