KPMG buys Montreal law firm Sweibel Novek Rabbat
KPMG Canada has acquired Sweibel Novek Rabbat LLP (SNR), a Montreal-based boutique law firm.
Founded in 1994, SNR offers tailored service in tax planning, tax litigation, estate planning, and commercial and corporate legal services. The firm has 13 employees, according to its website.
The SNR team will join KPMG Law LLP, the Big Four accountancy’s law firm affiliate. The deal will strengthen KPMG’s ability to support family businesses and entrepreneurs on succession issues as baby boomers continue to exit the workforce.

KPMG Law has 150 lawyers across major centres in Canada, including 25 in Quebec. The KPMG International network has 3,800 lawyers across 143 markets providing services in in tax, business, charitable, labour, and immigration law, as well as in tax litigation and estates and trusts.

The deal follows KPMG’s January acquisition of Ruby Stein Wagner, a Montreal-based accounting and consulting firm.
KPMG Canada has over 10,000 employees, including 1,750 in Quebec.
