Deloitte announces Canada's Best Managed Companies
Deloitte has announced the 26 new winners of the Canada’s Best Managed Companies awards program.
The awards program launched in 1993, and has seen 469 companies receive the distinction in the past 27 years. The award recognizes excellence in privately-owned companies with annual revenues over $25 million. The program is sponsored by Deloitte Private, the consulting firm’s practice which focuses on advising private clients of all sizes.
Canada’s Best Managed Companies in 2020 include Toronto-based camera retailer Henry’s, Calgary construction firm Rockwood Custom Homes, and Montreal food processing firm Conestoga Meats.
The success of the companies is attributed to investments in talent and technology, innovation, and intent to compete on a global level. Another common strength is commitment to defining and implementing purpose in all levels of business.
“Defining purpose is not just a goal of large organizations, it is increasingly valuable in the evolving workforce – it's equally important to employees and customers,” said Kari Lockhart, national co-leader of the Canada's Best Managed Companies program and partner, Deloitte Private. "By doing so, this year's Best Managed companies are fostering healthier workplaces, closer communities, and stronger foundations to help guide successful, collaborative decision-making.”
Deloitte notes that the best managed firms have a strong commitment to clients and customers, with a clear approach to customer service. The award winners are also driving success by continuing to act, invest, and make decisions in uncertain times – investing in R&D and creating proprietary tools instead of waiting for markets to stabilize.
