Doane Grant Thornton appoints Heath Moore as CEO

Doane Grant Thornton (DGT), a Toronto-headquartered accounting and consulting firm, has appointed Heath Moore as its chief executive officer, effective April 1.

Moore succeeds Kevin Ladner, who has led the firm since 2016. Ladner has been with DGT since 1985 and will retire from the firm at the end of the year.

“Heath brings deep expertise, proven leadership, and a clear commitment to our clients, colleagues, and communities,” Ladner said. “I have full confidence in his ability to lead the Firm into its next chapter while staying true to the values and our Purpose that have guided us for decades.”

Moore has been with DGT since 1996, joining the firm’s assurance practice before transitioning to tax services. He has been a tax partner since 2007 and most recently served as regional managing partner for Atlantic Canada. Before that, he was managing partner for Nova Scotia and national tax leader.

Moore was also a member of DGT’s partnership board between 2010 and 2016.

He has a bachelor’s degree in accounting and finance from Saint Mary’s University and is a chartered accountant.

“It’s an honour to step into this role at such an exciting time for our Firm,” Moore said. “Our legacy is a powerful foundation, and together with our leadership team, we are focused on building for the future – advancing our strategy, investing in our people, and delivering exceptional value to our clients while supporting long‑term, sustainable growth.”

As part of the leadership transition, DGT has also announced a series of leadership appointments across the country. The firm says the appointments position it for its next chapter: “strengthening communities, deepening client relationships, and ensuring consistent leadership across all regions.”

In recognition of Ladner’s tenure with the firm, the Doane Grant Thornton Foundation will be introducing a Kevin Ladner Legacy Scholarship. The foundation will over the next 10 years award 15 scholarships of $5,000 annually to third- and fourth-year accounting students from select schools in Canada.
