BDO hires Jeff Howald as partner in tax practice
BDO, a mid-market accounting and consulting firm, has hired Jeff Howald as a partner in its tax practice.
Based in Kitchener-Waterloo, ON, Howald brings more than two decades of Big Four experience in income tax advisory, planning, and compliance for Canadian-owned private enterprises.
He has extensive expertise in divestiture planning for the sale or transfer of Canadian-controlled private corporations, corporate reorganizations, intergenerational transfers, and trust and estate planning. Howald has worked with clients across a range of industries, including real estate, manufacturing, technology, and healthcare.
He joins BDO from KPMG, where he spent the last 22 years and was a partner.
Howald has a bachelor of business administration degree from Wilfrid Laurier University and is a chartered professional accountant.
“Jeff brings a strategic lens to complex areas of private client tax, from divestiture planning to trust and estate matters,” said Paul Ianni, partner and tax office service line leader at BDO. “His leadership and technical depth will enhance how we support private enterprises and their families as they plan for the future.”
BDO provides accounting, tax, and consulting services to mid-market clients across the country. The Toronto-headquartered firm has more than 5,000 people across 80+ offices nationwide.
BDO earlier this year welcomed Brenda Toles as a partner in its business services and outsourcing (BSO) practice in Winnipeg.
