BDO unveils AI strategy ‘AI Vision 2030’

National accounting and consulting firm BDO has unveiled its new AI strategy – AI Vision 2030.

The strategy positions AI as a core infrastructure at the company – and commits to embedding AI in how the firm operates and how it serves clients.

BDO says the AI strategy will strengthen its investments in areas including talent, governance, partnerships, and leadership.

“The advantage will go to organizations that leverage AI with clarity, discipline, and accountability,” said Bill Syrros, national AI Leader at BDO. “Done well, AI expands capacity, allows people to focus on relationships, and elevates judgment – it doesn’t replace it.”

The firm says that agentic AI in particular is a practical driver of enterprise value. Its utility is further magnified by Canada’s shortfalls in relative labour productivity and its ongoing trade and geopolitical challenges.

BDO, like many consultancies offering AI implementation services, practices what it preaches. The firm says it has embedded AI across key areas of its operations and expanded programs to drive AI upskilling.

Early results include 1,200+ employees contributing to AI-driven process improvements, 80% of structured AI bootcamp participants advancing to intermediate or higher proficiency, and the establishment of firmwide AI policies and governance controls.

“We are not deploying AI as a side initiative,” said Syrros. “We are deliberately elevating our people with proper training and tooling, while redesigning how work gets done. We need to be credible when we sit across from a client, that is the standard we are hold ourselves to.”

BDO’s current AI offerings include readiness assessment, agentic AI reimagination, development and delivery, and data and governance.
