MNP, a national mid-market accounting and consulting firm, has acquired Kanish & Partners, a Toronto-based chartered professional accounting firm.

Founded in 2000, Kanish & Partners provides accounting, assurance, and business advisory services to small and medium-sized enterprises in Ontario. The firm also supports large international companies with inbound Canadian tax and assurance services.

Kanish & Partners’ business advisory offerings include corporate finance, M&A, international expansion, and information system consulting.

As part of the acquisition, founding partner Kanish Thevarasa and senior partner Julian Emmanual will join MNP as partners, supported by their team of 22 professionals.

“We are very happy to welcome the Kanish & Partners LLP team to our Firm. By bringing our two teams together, we will be even better positioned to support our clients with a wide breadth of services designed to respond to market challenges and opportunities,” said Jon MacNeil, MNP’s regional managing partner for the GTA region.

The Kanish & Partners team will join MNP’s Toronto office upon completion of the transaction on January 19.

MNP’s GTA market includes 1,000+ people across locations in Toronto, Markham, and Mississauga.

“We felt that the chance to join a firm with the depth of resources that MNP offers, while maintaining our client focus, was a truly unique and exceptional opportunity,” said Thevarasa.

MNP is headquartered in Calgary and has more than 9,700 people across 150+ offices in Canada.

MNP recently acquired three firms across Quebec and Saskatchewan.
