Stantec to expand US presence with Page acquisition

Stantec, an Edmonton-headquartered design and engineering firm, has agreed to acquire Page, a Washington, DC-based architecture firm.
Founded in 1898, Page provides services in architecture, engineering, interior design, and urban design for buildings in a wide range of industries. The firm has 1,400 people across offices in 20 cities in the US and Mexico.
Page’s recent projects include Indeed Tower in Austin, Texas; John A. Paulson Center at New York University; and the National Museum of African American History and Culture in Washington, DC.
“This acquisition will greatly support our strategic market growth in our Buildings business while enabling us to leverage our expanded platform to better serve our North American clients and grow our worldwide market presence,” said Gord Johnston, president and chief executive officer of Stantec.
The Page deal will grow Stantec’s US buildings practice by 35% and its total US headcount to 13,500 people.
Stantec will fund the acquisition with a mix of existing funds and credit facilities.
“Our strategic plans were to achieve domestic primacy and global influence for our team, joining Stantec positions us to accelerate these plans,” said Thomas McCarthy, chief executive officer of Page.
Stantec has 32,000 employees across 450+ offices on six continents.
The firm last year acquired Morrison Hershfield, a Markham, ON-based civil engineering firm with 1,150 people across Canada, the US, and India.
