Stantec appoints Vito Culmone as chief financial officer
Stantec, a design and engineering consultancy, has appointed Vito Culmone as chief financial officer, effective September 3, 2024.
Culmone, who joins the Edmonton-headquartered firm in mid-July as executive vice president, succeeds Theresa Jang, who is retiring after five years as CFO.
Culmone has over 35 years of CFO and executive financial leadership experience across industries such as telecom, airlines, fleet management, and space technology.
He joins Stantec from MDA, a publicly traded Canadian space technology firm, where he spent the last three years as CFO. Before that, Culmone was EVP for finance and CFO at Element Fleet Management, Shaw Communications, and WestJet.
He began his career at PwC, where he spent seven years in the audit and tax businesses, latterly as a manager.
Culmone has a bachelor of commerce degree from the University of Toronto and is a chartered accountant and fellow of the Chartered Professional Accountants of Ontario.
“We are excited to welcome Vito to the Stantec team. He is an accomplished financial leader with a strong track record of creating value across multiple industries,” said Gord Johnston, president and CEO. “I am confident that Vito will be instrumental in sustaining our robust financial position, driving the successful execution of our Strategic Plan, and further elevating our world class financial team.”
Culmone added, “I am honored and eager to be joining such a storied company. The legacy and potential of Stantec are unparalleled, and I look forward to collaborating with the team to propel our growth during this dynamic period.”
Stantec earlier this year named Stephen Montminy as regional leader for Quebec.
