MNP acquires three accountancies
MNP, a middle-market accounting and consulting firm, announced the acquisition of three boutique CPA firms in the last week: Bradley Handrahan Chartered Professional Accountants, LD CPA Inc., and Dallaire & Lapointe Inc.
The acquisition of Bradley Handrahan, effective July 15, represents MNP’s entry into the Prince Edward Island market. With offices in Stratford and Tignish, the firm provides accounting and tax services to private enterprises across the province.
Partners Troy Bradley and Neil Handrahan will join MNP as partners, supported by team of 20 additional professionals. The team will remain at their current offices, which will become new MNP locations.
“We are very excited to be adding Prince Edward Island, with its vibrant and growing economy, to our presence in Atlantic Canada,” said Rob Dean, MNP’s regional managing partner for the Atlantic Canada region. “This merger represents a fantastic opportunity for both our firms to build on the work we are doing across the region to support clients with their growth journeys. We are excited about the possibilities that lie ahead and look forward to bringing even greater value to our clients and communities."
Calgary-headquartered MNP entered the Atlantic Canada market in 2017 through the acquisition of WBLI of Dartmouth and Truro, Nova Scotia. More recently, MNP acquired the PwC practice in St. John’s, Newfoundland.
The national firm has over 300 team members across Atlantic Canada, with locations in Dartmouth, Moncton, Saint John, St. John’s, Sydney and Truro.
The acquisition of LD CPA Inc. will expand MNP’s presence in the Montérégie region in the south of Quebec, where it recently acquired St-Hyacinthe-based BDG CPA.
Based in Valleyfield, LD CPA provides accounting, tax, and advisory services to private enterprises in the Montérégie region, including a large number of agriculture and food and beverage firms.
The accountancy is led by partners Karl Savary, Charles Huneault, Marie-France Bergevin, Karine Laitre, Marie Preycylla Leduc and Hugo Savary and is supported by 42 additional professionals.
The LD CPA team will remain at their current office, which will become MNP’s first location in Valleyfield.
“We are thrilled to welcome the LD CPA inc. team to our Firm. We have been looking for a firm in the Valleyfied area, which has a thriving business community, further building on our ability to best support our combined client bases and the Montérégie marketplace. Furthermore, the firm’s depth of knowledge of the agriculture sector, which is a rapidly growing practice at MNP in Québec, makes this merger a natural fit,” said Eric Grondin, regional managing partner for the South of Quebec region.
MNP entered the Quebec market in 2011 and has approximately 1,300 team members and 26 offices in the province.
Dallaire & Lapointe Inc. is MNP’s first acquisition in the Abitibi region in western Quebec. With offices in Rouyn-Noranda, Ville-Marie, Amos, and La Sarre, the firm provides accounting, tax, and advisory services to private enterprises in Abitibi.
Led by partners Nancy Jolette and Marc Dallaire, the firm has 10 staff members. The Rouyn-Noranda team will remain in their current office, which will become MNP’s second location in the city. The Ville-Marie office will become a new MNP location, while the Amos team will join MNP’s office in the city.
“With this first merger in Abitibi, we are demonstrating our commitment to growing our presence in the region and to supporting the businesses and organizations that thrive here,” said Jean-François Leblanc, MNP’s regional managing partner for the Saguenay region. “We are very excited to welcome Dallaire & Lapointe Inc. – a firm that shares our values and client-centric approach – into the MNP fold.”
