JLL adds Philip Traikos and Scott Barras to Toronto office
JLL, a commercial real estate services firm, has hired Philip Traikos as an EVP in its capital markets practice and Scott Barras as Work Dynamics lead for Canada.
Traikos brings more than two decades of expertise in commercial sales and leasing in the Greater Toronto Area, providing advisory services to owners of retail and land.
He joins JLL from Cushman & Wakefield, where he spent 21 years and held senior roles including VP for investment sales and VP for retail services.
Traikos has a bachelor’s degree in economics and urban geography from the University of Toronto.
“Philip’s devotion to clients and understanding of the niche business in which he operates will be a huge asset to JLL and our teams," said Matt Picken, managing director and head of capital markets at JLL Canada. “We see tremendous growth in the mid-cap, private investor segment of the market, and this is a space where Philip has been demonstrably successful over the years.”
Barras brings 18 years of experience in corporate real estate, with a recent focus on workplace strategy, portfolio transformation, and project management in the EMEA and APAC regions.
In his new role leading the Work Dynamics property management unit in Canada, Barras will focus on driving efficiency in processes, enhancing partnerships, and strengthening recruitment and development.
JLL’s Workplace Dynamics unit helps clients manage and enhance performance of facilities, projects, and portfolios. The unit’s 60,000 global specialists use technology-enabled solutions to manage over 2 billion square feet of real estate.
Barras is relocating to Toronto from Singapore, where he spent six years and served as Standard Chartered Banks’ global head of workplace and regional head of property for Asean and South Asia. Before that, he spent seven years in Standard Chartered Bank’s Dubai office, where he was regional head of property for Africa and the Middle East.
Before that, Barras was a Dubai-based senior project manager at EC Harris.
He has a master’s degree in surveying from the University of Reading, UK, a bachelor’s degree from the University of Liverpool, UK, and is a chartered member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors.
“As part of our strategy to provide specialized expertise and capabilities across geographies, we are invested in Canada as a significant growth market,” said Cheryl Carron, COO for Work Dynamics Americas, JLL. “Scott is a dynamic leader whose significant experience as a service provider client, paired with our talented team of Canadian experts, position him well to anticipate and respond to client needs as the industry continues to evolve.”
