KPMG International has joined the IBM Quantum Network to further explore how quantum computing can be applied to complex business challenges.

The IBM Quantum Network includes 210+ Fortune 500 companies, universities, labs, and startups. Members gain access to exclusive meetings and select channels where the latest ideas in quantum are shared, as well as opportunities for peer collaboration and close working relationships with IBM experts.

KPMG will extend its long-standing relationship with IBM and obtain access to resources including IBM’s global fleet of quantum computing systems, specialized software tools, and associated expertise.

Nancy Chase, head of risk consulting at KPMG Canada, says clients are curious about harnessing the potential of quantum – with 17% of Canadian organizations having already invested in the field and over two-thirds planning to in the next five years, according to a KPMG survey.

“KPMG in Canada is committed to helping our clients unlock the potential of quantum while understanding and minimizing the related risks,” Chase added. “We’re thrilled to expand our long-standing relationship with IBM.”

The move builds on KPMG’s prior quantum work, including its Global Quantum Hub, which serves as a center of excellence to help clients understand, adopt, and leverage quantum technologies to drive business value. Coordinated by KPMG Denmark, the hub offers services including strategy, use case discovery, and solutions implementation.

KPMG is currently helping a large telco provider implement quantum computing to optimize cell tower placement.

“This is an exciting new opportunity for our firm and our clients,” said Feite Kraay, IBM alliance director, KPMG Canada. “From operations research and optimization to machine learning and AI, quantum will enable us to find better solutions faster than we ever could with classical methods. We are looking forward to collaborating with our clients and leveraging IBM’s leading-edge quantum technology to deliver groundbreaking innovation in Canada.”
