ProCogia appoints Mark Birzell as chief operating officer
ProCogia, a Vancouver-headquartered data consulting firm, has hired Mark Birzell as chief operating officer.
Based in Seattle, Birzell brings more than 25 years of consulting and industry experience in strategy, organizational design, and operational excellence. In his new role at ProCogia, Birzell will focus on driving the company’s future growth and enhancing its operational management and processes.
He will also leverage his expertise in the US market to strengthen ProCogia’s positioning across the border.
“It’s an exciting time for ProCogia as our company grows with the addition of our new COO,” said Mehar Pratap Singh, CEO of ProCogia. “Mark brings a wealth of knowledge, experience, and expertise and will work closely with our leadership team to accelerate strategic initiatives, share his vast US- market knowledge, and enable the organization operationally. He will also help strengthen and build relationships with many of North America’s largest organizations.”
Birzell previously spent nearly three years at France-based management consultancy Sia Partners, where he was Seattle market lead. Sia Partners in 2019 acquired Loft9, a consultancy Birzell co-founded in 2010 and grew to $18 million in annual revenue by the time of its sale.
Before that, Birzell was a senior consultant at Point B and Accenture. Earlier in his career, he held several sales leadership roles at General Electric.
Birzel has a bachelor’s degree in finance from Miami University.
ProCogia was founded in 2013, but has seen rapid growth since the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic – increasing its headcount from 10 people in 2020 to 100 employees today. That growth has included investment in delivery centres in Ireland and India to offer more cost-effective solutions.
Aside from its Vancouver headquarters, ProCogia also has offices in in Toronto and Seattle.
The firm’s offerings span data consulting, data operations, data engineering, business intelligence and analytics, data science, and bioinformatics. ProCogia works with clients in retail, life sciences, telecom, financial services, and media.
