RSM Canada, a mid-market accounting and consulting firm, has opened its sixth location with the launch of a new office in Kitchener.

Located in the Catalyst Commons co-working space, the new Kitchener location will allow RSM to further develop its footprint in Southern Ontario.

Officially launched in June, the new office arrives approximately seven months after RSM bought Business Improvement Group, a 25-person tax credit consultancy located in neighboring Guelph.

The Kitchener expansion comes approximately one year after the firm opened its first BC location in Vancouver. The Toronto-headquartered firm (formed from the split-off of several independent Collins Barrow offices) has further locations in Calgary, Edmonton, and Red Deer.

RSM has selected Kate Phillips, national growth and business development leader, to head the Kitchener office. A long-time local resident, Phillips will use her strong understanding of the region to drive RSM’s market build-out, the firm said in a press release.

“We are excited to bring the power of RSM’s global network to local middle market businesses,” Phillips said. “Our commitment to being first-choice advisors, combined with our expertise in the industries that drive Waterloo Region, will help these world-class companies grow on a global scale.”

RSM Canada provides audit, tax, and advisory services to mid-market clients across industries. The firm has more than 600 professionals nationwide.

“Waterloo Region is among the fastest-growing communities in Canada,” said Harry Blum, national managing partner at RSM Canada. “Nearly half of Ontario’s population lives in the Toronto-Waterloo corridor – representing 21% of the country’s total population – along with 30% of Canada’s university students. This new office is proof of our commitment to bring the RSM talent and client experience to this region.”
