Nous Group adds two new principals in Toronto office

Nous Group, a Sydney, Australia-headquartered management consulting firm, has welcomed two new principals to its Toronto office: Janet Vanderlaan and Paul Taylor.

Vanderlaan brings two decades of experience in financial services, with expertise across data governance, product management, operations, and sales leadership and distribution. She has led the implementation of numerous large, cross-functional strategic initiatives.

Vanderlaan previously spent four years at consulting firm Optimus SBR, where she was a principal in the financial services group. Prior to that she spent 16 years in the banking industry. Vanderlaan previously served as senior director of business credit cards at RBC and AVP of card products at TD. She also previously held senior manager roles at TD in the operations and small business banking practices.

Vanderlaan holds an MBA from Queen’s University and a BBA from Brock University.

Taylor has worked at Nous for the last four years, serving as a director in the Canberra office. His promotion to principal will see him relocate to the firm’s Toronto location, which has grown to nearly 40 team members since being founded in late 2019.

Taylor has more than 10 years of experience advising on strategy, leadership, and large-scale transformation, with expertise serving clients across government, education, health, telecom, and consumer goods.

Prior to Nous, Taylor spent five years at Terra Firma Business Consulting, where he was a senior management consultant. He also previously spent a year at Accenture, where he was worked as a management consultant.

Prior to management consulting, Taylor worked as an engineer at LED Innovations and Aecom. He holds a master’s degree in economics from The Australian National University and a bachelor’s degree in management and international business from the University of New South Wales, Australia.
