Nous Group, the largest Australian-founded management consulting firm, has expanded into the Canadian market. The firm announced a new Toronto office as well as the signing of a major Canadian client in the education sector.

Founded in 1999, Nous Group has since expanded to a team of 400 professionals in nine Australian offices, as well as a location in London, UK. The firm offers management consulting in a wide range of areas, including strategy, digital, data & analytics, public policy, organizational performance, and leadership & talent. Nous Group serves clients in financial services, government, and government-adjacent sectors – such as utilities, human services, health, defence, infrastructure, and education.

The firm’s expansion into Canada stems from growing global interest in its consulting services, according to a release from Nous Group. The new Toronto location will be led by Tim Kennedy, a director at the firm, and Tom Tyler King, a senior consultant.

“We are pleased to extend our positive influence to Canada, where organizations are facing opportunities and challenges that are similar in some ways to their counterparts in our existing markets but also have unique Canadian characteristics,” said Tim Orton, managing director of Nous Group.

The consultancy also announced that it had secured its first client in Canada, winning a project for a “large Ontario-based university.”

Orton said, “As one of Australia and the UK’s leading higher education industry consultants, Nous understands how to harness the dynamics that drive activity in the sector. Many leading Australian and UK universities have benefited from our consulting services, and now Canadian universities will be able to join them.”

Canada has nearly 100 public universities, with a high concentration in Southern Ontario.

“Nous was selected due to our experience delivering similar projects with universities in Australia and the UK,” Kennedy noted. “There are very few firms in Canada with our expertise. We are looking forward to working with the university and other great Canadian organisations in future.”

In Australia, the consultancy recently helped Monash University develop a 10-year strategy for sustainable growth, including an action roadmap for growth and diversity goals.
