Dillon Consulting buys Vaughan-based Counterpoint Engineering
Dillon Consulting, a national engineering and environmental science consultancy, has acquired Counterpoint Engineering, a Vaughan, ON-based consulting firm specializing in urban renewal and land development.
Founded in 2002, Counterpoint provides services in civil engineering, project management, and construction administration for residential, commercial, and urban land development projects. The firm delivers a full range of design and engineering services within the scope of land development, including functional servicing reports, grading and servicing design, stormwater management, and low-impact design. Counterpoint also offers consulting services in site screening and due diligence prior to site purchase, as well as strategic advice related to approvals, cost considerations, and regulatory requirements.
The firm has more than 30 employees, according to LinkedIn, and has worked on projects in every Canadian province.
Dillon’s acquisition of Counterpoint is the first step towards “significant growth” of its land development business unit in the next several years, according to a release from the Toronto-headquartered firm. The move will strengthen Dillon’s land development and urban renewal service offering in the Greater Toronto Area.“We are excited to welcome Counterpoint Engineering to Dillon. We have worked closely with the Counterpoint team for many years and our values are very much aligned. There is an obvious fit for both our firms,” said Sean Hanlon, CEO of Dillon Consulting.
Dillon delivers consulting at the intersection of planning, management, engineering, and environmental science – with services related to building and improving facilities and infrastructure, environmental protection, and community development. The firm has 20 offices and more than 900 employees across Canada.
“On behalf of Counterpoint Engineering, we are looking forward to joining the Dillon team. As a fully owned subsidiary we are excited about the opportunities that this alignment of culture and business will create for our collective staff and clients,” said John Patterson, founder of Counterpoint Engineering
Dillon last year acquired F.C. O’Neill, Scriven & Assoc’s (ONSA), a Nova Scotia–based design and engineering consultancy specializing in mechanical and electrical building sciences and fire protection engineering.
