RSM Canada names Danny Ladouceur regional leader for life sciences

06 May 2021 Consulting.ca

Danny Ladouceur has been appointed regional leader of RSM Canada’s newly launched life sciences practice.

RSM’s new life sciences industry practice will look to capitalize on Canada’s bustling pharma and medtech landscape, which has the world’s second highest concentration of biotech firms. The country is also the tenth-largest market for pharmaceutical sales.

The pandemic has predictably been a boon for the life sciences sector, and a reckoning for others. Sixty-four percent of pharma firms and 63% of medtech firms reported improved profit margins in 2020, compared to just 19% of travel & tourism companies and 18% of restaurants.

RSM’s life sciences practice will help industry clients navigate a rapidly evolving regulatory environment, from the development stage to becoming a commercial organization. The practice’s offerings include digital transformation, ERP implementation, IPO advisory, and tax credits & incentives consulting.

Danny Ladouceur named regional leader for new Life Sciences industry

Danny Ladouceur, a partner and head of RSM Canada’s tax credits & incentives practice since 2019, will serve as regional leader of the practice. He has more than 30 years of public practice and private sector experience, with expertise across scientific research and experimental development (SRED) tax credits, as well as all areas of government grants and incentives.

Prior to joining RSM, Ladouceur spent more than five years at tax consultancy Ryan, where he was a principal and head of the SR&ED team in Canada. Before that, he founded and ran Ideacia One, a consulting group offering services in strategic planning, marketing strategy & market research, and R&D funding.

Earlier in his career, Ladouceur was VP of finance & IT at Signature Vacations, VP & CFO at FCI Broadband, and director of finance at TSN.

He has a bachelor’s degree in accounting and finance from the University of Ottawa and holds CPA and CA designations.

“We are delighted to have Danny bring his strong leadership portfolio to this exciting new venture for RSM Canada,” said Rhonda Klosler, chief operating officer and Toronto office market leader. “The Canadian life sciences sector is more important than ever to Canada's innovation economy, and I’m confident that Danny’s strategic focus and track record of driving business growth will be an anchor for the success of this timely industry offering.”

RSM Canada has approximately 600 employees across offices in Ontario and Alberta. The firm offers audit, tax, and consulting services to mid-market clients.

The firm last year launched a new public sector practice in anticipation of heightened government spending in response to the Covid-19 pandemic.
