RSM Canada names Doug Kroetsch as leader of new public sector practice
Accounting and consulting firm RSM Canada has appointed Doug Kroetsch as the government industry leader of its new public sector practice group.
The new practice group uses an evidence-based approach which combines innovation with hands-on solutions, according to the firm. The group will support public sector clients with customized solutions to address increasing demand for services and improve efficiencies and technology amid tightening budgets and timelines.
RSM will aim to support government agencies and municipalities as the federal government rolls out massive stimulus spending to buoy the Canadian economy during the Covid-19 pandemic. The stimulus spending will include large public works and infrastructure projects, among other programs.
“As we manage through our current health crisis and prepare for a post-COVID world, it's clear that public sector programs and initiatives will continue to take on added meaning and significance,” said Harry Blum, national managing partner of RSM Canada. “Now more than ever, government and the public sector will play a leading role in Canada's economic recovery, and RSM Canada will be there to help."
Practice leader Doug Kroetsch brings nearly 25 years of experience providing assurance and consulting services to public and private sector clients. Kroetsch will continue to lead the firm’s Alberta market and Edmonton office.
As Alberta market managing leader, Kroetsch has worked to integrate RSM Canada’s offices in Calgary, Edmonton, and Red Deer, while growing business in the Western Canada region. The three Alberta offices joined RSM Canada in 2018 from Collins Barrow (now Baker Tilly Canada).
Kroetsch previously spent 19 years at accounting and consulting firm Collins Barrow, where he was an assurance partner and head of the Edmonton office. He holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of Alberta and is a chartered professional accountant.
"RSM Canada has built strong partnerships throughout the public sector, with deep expertise across all sub-sectors: provincial, federal, municipal, crown corporations, schools and hospitals. The new public sector practice group will help build resilient public services and programs that make a positive difference in our community," Kroetsch said.
