MNP buys Kelowna’s Chun & Co. after Deloitte Prince George acquisition

MNP, the fifth largest national accounting and consulting firm in Canada, has acquired Chun & Company, a Kelowna-based accounting and consulting firm. The transaction follows MNP’s acquisition of Deloitte’s practice in Prince George in September.

Both acquisitions are part of MNP’s strategic plan for continued growth in British Columbia.

Chun & Co. was founded in 1994 by Dan Chun and delivers cloud accounting, tax, and business advisory services. The firm’s consulting services include performance improvement, financial planning, investment review, business purchase and sale advisory, and estate and succession planning. Chun & Co.’s team of 10 professionals serve corporations, family trusts, and individuals.

“Changing market conditions are impacting the way businesses must operate,” Dan Chun said in a press release. “As such, we are continually looking at new ways to enhance our service offerings and help our clients achieve their goals. By joining MNP, we add more resources, more specialized services and a wider range of experiences, all of which will bring greater value to our clients."

The merger is effective February 3, 2020.

The move follows on the heels of MNP’s acquisition of Deloitte’s Prince George, B.C. practice. The transaction saw an office team of 21 join the MNP team in the Northern B.C. city, including four new partners. MNP plans to combine the team into one Prince George location in the future.

Deloitte’s Prince George office had roots going back to 1913, and had been under the Deloitte umbrella for 40-plus years.

MNP has more than 20 locations in B.C., and more than 80 across Canada. The firm has over 5,000 employees in the country.
