Cannabis Compliance Inc. appoints Dale Hooper as president and CEO

Cannabis sector advisory firm Cannabis Compliance Inc. (CCI) has hired Dale Hooper as its president and CEO. The former chief brand officer at Canadian communications and media company Rogers Communications, Hooper has nearly 30 years of experience in marketing and sales.

Billing itself as “Canada’s original cannabis consulting firm,” CCI provides end-to-end industry-focused advisory services, from cultivation and strain development to facility design, security, regulatory licensing, workforce training, and business planning. CCI’s central focus is on obtaining Health Canada approval for programs and proposals, along with follow-up regulatory compliance. The firm was founded in 2017, and is based out of Mississauga, Ontario.

In January 2018, the consulting firm bought a 40% stake in cannabis security consultancy 3 Sixty, strengthening its position as a broadly based cannabis industry service provider.

Hooper is one of a pair of leadership appointments. The firm first appointed CCI founder Brian Wagner as the chairman of its newly created board. Wagner has been a cannabis industry thought leader since the company’s inception, and in two years has successfully grown the business from 10 to 95 employees. Hooper will replace Wagner as CEO.

In his previous capacity as an independent strategic advisor, Hooper supported CCI on a number of key initiatives, refining the firm’s client offering and helping define its long-term strategy. 

At Rogers Communications, Hooper was responsible for the media giant’s branding, advertising, and sponsorships. He also helped drive the company’s digital transformation aimed at improving customer experience and marketing effectiveness. Before that, he spent more than three years as senior vice president of marketing and consumer insights at the company.

Hooper spent also spent 13 years at PepsiCo, rising from the position of channel marketing manager to vice president of marketing and consumer insights.
