Deloitte Canada has expanded its human capital management (HCM) solutions capabilities with the acquisition of BDO Canada’s Dayforce practice.

Dayforce (formerly Ceridian) is a popular HCM software platform, providing solutions across payroll, tax filing, benefits, HR, talent intelligence, workforce management, and recruiting technology. The Minneapolis-based firm was in February acquired by private equity firm Thoma Bravo.

BDO says it is selling its Dayforce practice for compliance reasons arising from the private equity acquisition, which also included a significant minority investment from the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority.

“The Thoma Bravo acquisition of Dayforce introduced global independence restrictions for BDO Canada that have changed the nature of our relationship with the organization and the way in which we provide Dayforce implementation services,” said Bruno Suppa, CEO of BDO Canada. “By transitioning the Dayforce practice, this gives this team of specialized professionals further flexibility to expand their practice and to continue supporting clients with their implementation needs.”

Deloitte says the acquisition will expand its Dayforce practice into one of the largest in Canada.

“This expansion of our Dayforce capabilities strengthens our ability to deliver a differentiated workforce technology offering and increases our leadership in Human Capital transformation and advisory,” said Anthony Viel, CEO of Deloitte Canada.

Brad Francis, national human capital leader at Deloitte Canada, added, “This investment reflects our continued focus on scaling innovative and differentiated capabilities and deepening our specialization in a platform that is gaining strong momentum in Canada.”
