CIMA+ partners with STEM outreach charity Actua

CIMA+, a Montreal-headquartered engineering consulting firm, has announced a three-year national partnership with Actua, a Canadian STEM (science, engineering, technology, mathematics) outreach charity for youth.

Founded in 1993, Actua focuses on removing barriers to STEM education for youth between age six and 26 in underrepresented groups. Since its founding, the charity has provided hands-on learning experiences to hundreds of thousands of young people to help them discover and build confidence to pursue careers in STEM. Actua leverages a nationwide network of universities and colleges to provide its outreach services. 

“Organizations like Actua play a vital role in opening doors to STEM for young people across Canada, particularly in Indigenous communities and among groups that have historically faced barriers to these fields,” said Denis Thivierge, president and CEO of CIMA+. “At CIMA+, we believe supporting that mission is part of our responsibility and reflects who we are as an organization.”

CIMA+ is the first consulting engineering firm in Canada to partner with Actua. The firms says the partnership reinforces its commitment to help develop STEM talent and expand equitable access to STEM education.

Beyond financial contributions, the consultancy will provide additional support in the areas of mentorship, career awareness, and knowledge sharing.

CIMA+ was founded in 1990 and has more than 3,700 people across 45+ offices in Canada. The firm provides consulting engineering services in energy and resources, infrastructure, transportation, buildings, project management, operational and digital technologies, and earth and environment.
