HKA adds Walied Abdeldayem as partner in Toronto office

HKA, a risk and disputes consultancy, has hired Walied Abdeldayem as a partner in its construction disputes and expert services practice in Toronto.

Abdeldayem is a delay and disruption expert with more than 25 years of construction industry experience. He specializes in forensic delay analysis, extension-of-time claims, disruption and productivity assessments, acceleration-related damages, and project controls.

Abdeldayem has served as a testifying expert for arbitrations and court proceedings relating to projects in major infrastructure, energy, aviation, and transportation across North America, the Middle East, and Africa.

“Walied brings a wealth of experience as a testifying expert, combined with deep technical knowledge of construction disputes and a strong reputation in key markets. His ability to lead complex expert engagements and support clients across the full dispute lifecycle will enhance our capabilities and strengthen our position in the construction disputes space,” said Maged Abdelsayed, a partner at HKA.

He joins HKA from CBBG Group, where he was a senior managing director in the construction expert services practice. Before that, Abdeldayem was a managing director at Intellect Dispute Experts Advisory, a director at Driver Group, and senior consultant at FTI Consulting.

He began his career in structural design and engineering, holding roles at firms across the Middle East and Africa.

Abdeldayem has a master of laws in construction law and arbitration from Robert Gordon University in the UK, an MBA from the University of Manchester in the UK, and a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Al-Azhar University in Egypt.

“I’m delighted to join HKA and contribute to the continued growth of its global construction disputes practice. The firm’s international platform and collaborative approach provide an excellent opportunity to support clients on complex disputes and deliver high-quality expert services,” said Abdeldayem.

HKA has more than 1,100 people across 40+ offices in 17 countries. The firm supports construction and energy sector clients with services in risk mitigation, dispute resolution, expert witness, and litigation support.
