Mphasis acquires Vancouver-based Theory and Practice Business Intelligence Inc.
Mphasis, an Indian IT consulting firm, has acquired Theory and Practice Business Intelligence Inc. (TAP), a Vancouver-based provider of decision intelligence software.
TAP was founded in 2018 Rogayeh Tabrizi, PhD, and has 24 employees listed on LinkedIn. Continuum AI, the firm’s decision intelligence platform, helps financial services, retail, and CPG firms better understand buyer behaviour and improve decision-making.
The platform harmonizes intelligence across functions and supports real-time decision-making across areas such as revenue optimization, marketing, and promotions.
The acquisition will enable Mphasis to add a critical decision intelligence layer to NeoIP, the firm’s suite of AI solutions and platforms for the enterprise IT value chain.
The transaction has an upfront consideration of $10 million at closing, with a management milestone-based, multi-year contingent consideration of up to $20 million.
“Even when predictive models exist, many organizations lack a robust layer that structures context, links concepts consistently, and enables higher-order reasoning and decisioning. Through this acquisition, Mphasis adds to the context engineering layer, that is foundational for agentic workflows, a decision intelligence beyond point solutions, so outcomes can be designed, executed, measured, and continuously improved,” said Ramanathan Srikumar, chief solutions officer, Mphasis.
Tabrizi will join Mphasis as EVP for the CPG industry and head of decision AI. She is an alumna of Simon Fraser University, where she completed a PhD in economics and a master’s degree in experimental particle physics.
“We are excited to join the Mphasis family and bring Continuum AI into a larger platform and engineering ecosystem,” said Tabrizi. “Our combined capabilities will enable clients to move beyond isolated pilots and unlock faster, more meaningful business decisions with intelligence, speed, and measurable impact.”
Mphasis is headquartered in Bengaluru and is listed on the BSE and NSE stock exchanges in India. The firm was founded in 1992 and has more than 31,000 employees in 21 countries.
