The Poirier Group acquires emergency management specialist Sandhurst Consulting
The Poirier Group (TPG), a Toronto-headquartered management consulting firm, has acquired Sandhurst Consulting, a Calgary-based emergency management consulting firm.
Founded in 2014 by Stuart Carver, Sandhurst helps organizations confront threats to their operations, including floods, wildfire, oil spills, pandemics, cyberattacks, and safety incidents. The firm’s consultants advise on risk identification and mitigation, development of plans and policies, and training.
Sandhurst works primarily with clients in the oil & gas and energy & utilities sectors. The firm has 16 employees listed on its website.
TPG’s acquisition of Sandhurst will add capabilities in emergency management and a new office in Calgary. Stuart Carver will move into an advisory role to ensure a smooth transition during his firm’s integration with TPG.
Sandhurst will maintain its brand.
“Joining forces with The Poirier Group allows us to scale our impact across Canada without compromising the values that built our reputation,” said Paul Flavell, the newly appointed president of Sandhurst. “Our teams have a shared commitment to preparedness, rigorous training and calm execution under pressure, key requirements for Canadian organizations who are facing more frequent, complex, and costly crises than ever before.”
A former UK Army officer, Flavell joined Sandhurst in 2021 and most recently served as chief operations officer.
“Sandhurst’s reputation for hands-on, real world emergency management and training are second to none," said David Poirier, CEO of The Poirier Group. “By combining their field-tested expertise with our strategic and operational consulting capabilities, we’re creating a national platform for resilience that provides our clients with additional rigor to maintain or achieve operational excellence and their competitive advantage.”
TPG was founded in 2005 and has 68 employees listed on its website. The Toronto firm supports mid-market companies with services in strategy development and execution, process improvement, cost reduction, supply chain and logistics, retail operations and customer experience, people and change, and private equity support.
