Michael Lewis promoted to president of Marsh Risk Canada

Michael Lewis has been promoted to president of Marsh Risk Canada, a provider of insurance broking and risk management services.

New York-headquartered parent company Marsh (formerly Marsh McLennan) last year announced a significant rebranding initiative for itself and its four major subsidiaries. Insurance broking and risk services subsidiary Marsh was renamed Marsh Risk, and in 2027 Guy Carpenter (reinsurance) will become Marsh Re; Mercer (HR consulting and asset management) will become Marsh; and Oliver Wyman (consulting) will become Marsh Management Consulting.

Based in Vancouver, Lewis has been with Marsh Risk since 2006 and currently serves as chief commercial officer for Marsh Canada and as head of specialty and industry for Marsh Risk Canada. He will continue to serve as CCO in addition to his role as president.

In his new role, Lewis will lead strategic development and execution of Marsh Risk’s Canada commercial strategy, which encompasses its risk management, corporate and commercial client segments, risk consulting services, and specialty insurance broking solutions.

He succeeds Sarah Robson, who will continue to serve as Marsh Canada CEO.

“Michael’s appointment comes at a pivotal time as our Canadian clients face unprecedented economic and geopolitical volatility, including evolving trade policies, regulatory changes, and complex global risks,” Robson said. “His commitment to clients, deep experience, and leadership will be critical in helping our clients navigate these challenges.”

Lewis in 2006 joined Marsh Risk’s workforce strategies group in Australia before transferring to the Honk Kong office to lead the workforce strategies group there. Lewis moved to Canada in 2018 to serve as Marsh Risk’s national growth and industry leader.

He has a bachelor’s degree from the University of Sydney in Australia.

“I look forward to working closely with our colleagues across Canada to build on the already strong foundation cemented by Sarah and to deliver continued innovation and stellar service to our clients,” Lewis said.

Marsh Risk has more than 45,000 employees across offices in 130+ countries. Marsh has more than 95,000 employees and annual revenue of $27 billion.
