Renée Smith joins Englobe as senior director in hydropower practice
Renée Smith has joined the hydropower practice of Englobe, Colliers’ engineering consulting arm, as a senior director.
Based in St. John’s, Newfoundland, Smith brings 15 years of experience in electrical system planning, regulatory strategy, and stakeholder engagements.
She joins Englobe from Newfoundland and Labrador Hydro, where she spent eight years as a manager in the resource and production planning division. Before that, Smith spent seven years at Nalcor Energy, where she was a generation planning engineer.
She holds an MBA from Dalhousie University and a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from Memorial University. Smith also holds professional engineer and fellow of Engineers Canada designations.
Englobe says the hydroelectric market in Quebec and Atlantic Canada is poised for significant growth in the next decade, and Smith will help expand offerings and capabilities in the sector. The firm says it works on major hydro projects nationwide.
“Renée’s appointment marks a significant step forward in our strategic positioning,” said Mike Cormier, president at Englobe. “Her expertise and leadership will allow us to deliver comprehensive hydro-electricity solutions that are reliable, cost-effective, and sustainable – positioning Englobe as a trusted partner for large-scale energy projects across Canada.”
Englobe is headquartered in Laval, QC and has more than 3,400 people across 60+ offices in Canada. The firm provides services in engineering, design, inspection, environmental consulting, and remediation.
Colliers, a Toronto-headquartered commercial real estate services firm, acquired Englobe in 2024.
