DXC appoints new leaders for Canadian business

DXC Technology, a US-based IT consulting firm, yesterday announced the appointment of Dave Buchanan as president of Canada public sector and Jarek Welcz as leader of Canada commercial.

Buchanan and Welcz will lead DXC’s growth strategy in Canada at a pivotal moment, as clients look to drive innovation via AI, digital sovereignty, and sustainability.

Based in Ottawa, Buchanan brings extensive experience delivering technology solutions to Canada’s public sector and other organizations. He joins DXC from IT consultancy HCLTEch, where he was senior director of the public sector and healthcare practices in Canada.

Before that, Buchanan was director of sales for the Canadian government at SAS and regional director for Eastern Canada at Hewlett Packard Enterprise.

"I’m honoured to join DXC at this important time and proud to lead this outstanding team in solving our clients’ business problems," said Buchanan. "DXC’s capabilities in AI and its expertise across the full stack of enterprise technology services are truly impressive."

Based in Toronto, Welcz has 30+ years of experience in managed services, with deep expertise directing technology and business management plans.

He has spent the last 10 years at DXC and predecessor firm Hewlett Packard Enterprise Services, most recently serving as sector executive for Canadian banking, finance, and insurance. Before that, he was an account executive at HP and a client delivery manager at Electronic Data Systems.

"It has been a privilege to be part of DXC’s long and strong history in Canada, and I am excited to lead it into its next chapter," said Welcz. "I believe we are well positioned to lead our clients in the AI era and to drive business innovation for them."

DXC has operated in Canada for over 20 years and has more than 1,800 people located across all 10 provinces. The firm serves more than 350 customers across industries including financial services, healthcare, automotive, and public sector.

DXC in April announced the opening of its first Toronto office.

The firm, which is traded on the New York Stock Exchange, was formed in 2017 via the merger of HP Enterprise’s enterprise services business unit and Computer Sciences Corporation.
