Hugessen Consulting, an executive compensation and board effectiveness advisory firm, has promoted Ciara Wakita to partner.

Wakita, who joined the firm’s Toronto headquarters in 2022 as a principal, becomes Hugessen’s ninth partner. The boutique firm has 40+ employees across offices in Toronto, Montreal, and Calgary.

Wakita currently serves as co-leader of board effectiveness, where she advises on composition, processes, norms, structure, CEO transition, and CEO performance management.

“Ciara's promotion to Partner is a testament to her exceptional leadership and the impact she has made in advancing our Board Effectiveness practice," said Ken Hugessen and Georges Soaré, founding partners.  "Her insight, integrity, and commitment to client success embody the values of our firm."

Wakita has more than 15 years of experience advising boards and executives across the public and private sectors. Before joining Hugessen, she spent four years with Deloitte Consulting, where she was a senior manager leading strategic advisory and team effectiveness engagements.

Earlier in her career, Wakita spent nearly a decade with RBC, where she was latterly a senior commercial account manager.

She holds an MBA from the University of Toronto and a bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of Alberta.

“I'm honoured to join the partnership at Hugessen," Wakita said. "It's a privilege to continue to work alongside such talented colleagues and to support boards in making principled decisions that shape an economically and socially prosperous future."

Hugessen Consulting was founded in 2006 and supports public, private, and crown corporation clients. The firm has practices in executive compensation strategy and design, compensation governance and shareholder support, corporate performance measurement and assessment, director compensation, board effectiveness, CEO performance management, and CEO transition planning.
